For enterprise talent acquisition

Assess AI knowledge in candidates with a consistent baseline.

When AI proficiency appears in a job brief, what evidence should a hiring team ask for? Core-6 provides one consistent measure of foundational knowledge across candidates, while the employer determines what the role requires.

The decision

Replace vague claims with a clearer question

A CV line saying ‘proficient with AI’ can describe everything from occasional tool use to careful verification in high-impact work. Self-rating and familiarity with a particular product give a hiring manager limited evidence about underlying understanding.

The useful question is whether candidates understand AI’s strengths, limits, data risks and the point at which human judgement must take over. That knowledge is relevant across many roles, even though the importance of each task differs by job.

In practice

Example: hiring a recruiter who will use AI

Core-6 gives every candidate a common AI knowledge assessment. The hiring team can separately ask how the person would check an AI-generated shortlist against the job criteria and potential bias, using a structured interview or work sample of its own design. Those separate methods are not genAssess assessment modules.

01

Define the job requirement

Identify which AI-related knowledge genuinely matters for the role and how a candidate will encounter AI at work.

02

Use a common baseline

Administer the generic Core-6 assessment through Sova and examine the six knowledge areas as relevant evidence.

03

Complete the selection picture

Combine the result with job-relevant interviews or work samples run separately, and retain a documented human decision.

Reading the result

Use the score proportionately

Core-6 is the same knowledge assessment for every role. It does not simulate recruiter tasks, score live prompting or decide who should be hired. A stronger result may justify further exploration; a lower result may identify knowledge that could be developed. Neither replaces the rest of selection.

Before using any score as a hurdle, the hiring team should examine its relevance to the role, the validation evidence and the fairness of the whole process. Sova provides assessment delivery and reporting; the employer remains responsible for its hiring decisions.

For the assessment format and evidence, see the Core-6 product page and the validation account.

The product boundary

Core-6 measures foundational AI knowledge. Job-specific exercises, interviews and final hiring judgements sit outside the product.
